WHO WE ARE
A large wave crossed El Emir beach a year ago and transformed inside, outside and conceptually an already cozy historic building from 1939 into a cool beach house where young surfers and the classic residents of Punta del Este share an afternoon with food and drinks .
Beach house, specialty coffee, gastronomic proposal with local products and Mediterranean inspiration, cocktails and some rooms: all this is Vitaminas, a project by Clo Dimet and Otto Nan that was born in front of the rocky sea of Punta del Este, meters from El Emir, the peninsula's beach chosen by surfers.
The foam from the wave was used to create a bright but serene space that was filled with upcycled Dutch design (loved by others before and repurposed) and other classics, plus local craftsmanship and patience to create a light and nourishing atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and sexy.
Vitamins are provided by the sun, the sea and the beach, the fruits of the Mexican garden, the visual explosion of salads and the olives of a cold vodka martini.
The kitchen is in the hands of the Uruguayan Clo Dimet, who for 10 years was in charge of Posada Paradiso in José Ignacio, and before that led the renowned São Paulo restaurant Figueira Rubaiyat. Her proposal is market cuisine with Mediterranean inspiration and a contrast of flavors that prioritizes the quality of the products, mostly local and many of them organic. Furthermore, in an attempt to generate community and provide alternatives in Punta del Este, Vitaminas will be open all day and all year round.
Obviously, the coffee is fantastic.
The interior design, from the furniture to the art, is in charge of the Dutch Otto Nan, creator of the Lloyd Hotel and Sweets Hotel in Amsterdam. The Lloyd Hotel became the meeting place of the cultural and artistic world of that city, Sweets Hotel is also unique in its concept: it transformed disused bridge checkpoints into self-contained suites surrounded by canals.
Vitaminas is the result of what can happen when the Uruguayan countryside and sea mix with conceptual modernity of a European style.
Hotel guests are invited to start the day with a yoga practice on the deck, overlooking Punta del Este's Brava Beach. A visit or stay at Vitaminas awakens and surprises all the senses.
